Made especially for Guardino Gallery's invitational show
"Altars," the Portable Altar is a comment on the
ways people choose religious belief. I question the pragmatism
and superficiality of acquiring a religion, embracing what
is comfortable and discarding what is inconvenient. When do
the trappings of religion become a burden?
